Made it through another day. Not looking forward to some of the conflicts that are going to be coming up soon, but they need to happen. I don't like the feeling of being in a very vulnerable position when trying to make sure no one does anything shady but... here we are.
I hope everyone is feeling alright wherever you are. I know it looks weird with the world seemingly dipping into oddly regressive regimes. We'll see what happens in the next two years.
Really long day today, but still kinda happy with the feeling of having a consistent routine and a clean house. I know that might sound small, but it makes the morning feel less dreary.
Really jazzed by the music ideas presented in Shipbreaker. Looking for ways to meld traditional music styles and instruments with synths is what I've been keen on for years. Hoping to take some time off this summer and work more on it.
A year and a half ago is when I really started to learn how to deal with my anxious mind, and emotional immaturity. It can be really hard to see the prison you can create for yourself, and I feel lucky that there are people in my life that have stuck with me to help me get here.
I've mostly been practicing presence and meditation. Something I didn't understand 2 year ago. I can't say it will work for everyone, but it really is helping me.
Changing habits can be really difficult. I've been spending a lot of time over the last month trying to break this pattern of poor habits that have led toward stagnation since before the pandemic (I can't totally blame that).
The biggest help is realizing that change is slow, and usually in small pieces at a time. Mistakes happen, but if I can be aware enough to notice/accept them, I'm more likely to not be demoralized and give up trying.
Prompted by side events from today, I was reminded of a play/film that I really like. The film version is pretty good. If you have the means this weekend, might I suggest maybe checking out 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead'?
The video linked above is United States centric, but whatever is driving this global conservative movement is doing this same stuff everywhere they can.
Likely of little surprise to a lot of people here on the fediverse, the GOP really hates queer people. I'm at work and haven't had the chance to watch this video yet, but the folks at "Some More News" generally do a decent job talking about issues like this.
Hello toot friends, I bring #antiLawn memes.
I'm hoping to radicalise you all against the boring monoculture lawn and turn you into biodiversity defenders.
I spotted this ad on this morning while doing my morning glance at the "internet."
I don't think even the animated .gif of Tina Fey rolling her eyes goes anywhere near far enough to describe my feelings on the fresh hell that this idea represents. #education
