I'm not going to lie... it's been a long time since I saw a concentrated group of people doing a first post as Hello World. =D
@Rasgueado that's my impression. it's like email: you can be bob@gmail.com and I can be bob@yahoo.com. The host is part of specifying who you're referring to -- username alone isn't enough.
@Kryten consensus from a few people seems to think there can be more than one, but you're posting from this particular instance, which you attach a display name to.
I believe this is why they opted for email to be your login as opposed to your display name.
@emallson Ok... that's cool, I'm into that. I just wanted to make sure I was following that correctly from the user guide. =)
Thanks!
So, it seems like it is possible to have multiple people with the same username, but attached to different instances. Though those people can be federated into one public timeline.
Is that accurate? Like... I could make another account on a different instance with the same username?
@mogwai_poet I've been wondering this since I read the user guide.
Last bit of fuzz for tonight. #catsodon
Current mood: #kitty
New service = excuse to travel down memory lane. #PAX was a lot of fun that year.
@AlisonHudson all it takes is a little push! :D
Let's see how quickly we can also fill this up with cat photos!
I'll always feel thankful for being able to see these sunsets. #Vancouver
Thanks to Jim Crawford for posting about Mastodon!
