I just had an interesting thought. If some people are using #mastodon as a method of safer discussions; checking the sites for https connections etc. doesn't getting email notifications effectively remove any encrypted on the wire safety you feel you have since they are effectively postcards?

I would like to know how people can really, *REALLY* look at the home content from following 100+ people and not get either overwhelmed or just get nothing else done in the real world with favorite/boosting/replying or just really overlook the gems in the flow of the firehose.
I am not trying to complain, but wondering how people are doing it honestly.
