I am starting to wonder about having more than one account. It seems many of the tech people I follow are either into gaming or open to it. All the gaming people are into technology or open to it. The introduction of Lists in 2.1.0 is something I want to explore.

Considering consolidating to one instance. Opinions?

I now wonder about just keeping accounts on more populated instances to "peek in" on their local timelines; finding interesting people. Then following those on my "primary" instance of choice. Otherwise, how would you find some of these people without scouting ahead?

@PresGas asking myself the same question.

@greedy I think it all depends on

- What you want out of
- If you have interests that do/do not overlap
- What your interests are and if you want to reach out to the interwebs for it
- How much time you have

I am sure there are other things to ask... Obviously I am still mulling it all over myself

@PresGas @greedy I think the intuitive thing is to just make an account on each instance you want to explore. Overall, I like separate accounts because I don't want to spam e.g. gamedev/professional followers with personal opinions. It's nice to have a dedicated account on a specific instance so that one can remain "professional-ish" and one "personal-ish"

I suspect what would solve this problem is a Mastodon analogue to TweetDeck

@freemancw @greedy I have kinda been doing this as my "default" setting, honestly. I currently have 4 instance accounts, but two of them are considered "backup".

I have been using the version of on the phone and that has been pretty okay. However, I have been thinking of making multiple accounts to claim my identity/branding there, but using one as my main "interface". Otherwise, I keep to the default setting.
