when i lived in winnipeg years ago, i had an old-fashioned toaster—the non-automatic kind with doors on the sides that flip down and you had to turn the bread over to toast both sides. you also had to keep an eye on it or time it yourself. a real pain, but they were super cheap at yard sales because they were crappy lol

later, when i moved to vancouver, i tried to find one like it, but the only ones i saw were super expensive because they were "vintage" ☹️
