I just had an interesting thought. If some people are using #mastodon as a method of safer discussions; checking the sites for https connections etc. doesn't getting email notifications effectively remove any encrypted on the wire safety you feel you have since they are effectively postcards?

@PresGas holy crap using Mastodon as some kind of "secure" channel would be insane. HTTPS is the bare minimum for any web content, it has no bearing on whether a tool is actually a secure channel for comms. Use tools built for such a purpose, like Signal or Wire or Keybase.
