@pookleblinky although I'm not on mastondon...I chickened out on setting up my own instance when I saw that a system I've been on for many years, SDF Public Access Unix, had a GNU Social instance. But yes mastodon has a better UI so I may get at least one account on a friendly mastodon instance, too. Plus this gnu social instance has 1000 char messages :-)
