It's weird how I went from "Nothing less than a V6!" and "Horsepower is king!" to a 110HP 1.8L hatch. I ended up cutting about 10 minutes off my commute just because the shorter wheelbase makes lane-changes easier, and the mileage is awesome in start and go traffic. There's still a lot of anti-immigrant sentiment, our treatment of Native peoples is appalling (Yes, a lot of us see the irony), white nationalism is growing, and we have our fair share of right-wing conservatives that want to slash social programs in favour of corporate interest.
A lot of folks think that this is because of American influence, but those elements have always been there.
