"Problem:
If you spend #eighthours of your day at #work, and eight hours at #home, there is no reason why your #workplace should be any less of a #community than your home...
I've had an ongoing legal battle over a house I bought 6 years ago, that someone felt I should let them have. We have a court date to revisit the matter on Thursday afternoon.
About an hour ago I received word that the house no longer exists. A comment said "The house was toasted". So, one problem up in smoke.
It's hard to be optimistic about this at 0 dark 30. Phone calls to lawyer and insurance agent are on tap in about 6 hours.
@reedsandstrings Ramekins, I believe.

This bothers me quite a lot. Greenwalt talks about Facebook censorship at the demand of the US government.

@SteveJohnson I'm a bourbon drinker from way back. I know what beers are popular, but that doesn't necessarily make them good.
@SteveJohnson I talked with the guys at NAPA (who knew me well for buying hydraulic lines) and picked up some deep cycle batteries designed for industrial golf carts. If you can manage the one time sunk cost, it should save a lot of gasoline $$ over the next few years.
@generica This evening I layered that chili with tortillas, black olives, and Mexican blend cheese then baked it till it was bubbly. The grandchildren approved. Thanks for the suggestion.
@kensanata Thank you for the how-to. I've been here for a while but had little idea of how to make the site my friend.
SWATting ought to be a felony.

Snow still on the ground from the Christmas Eve fall. Eight degree Fahrenheit outside, and a pot of chili on the stove. Shredded cheese, chili peppers, sour cream, assorted hot sauces ...
What am I missing?
@SteveJohnson You can start the solar panel habit slowly. I've seen small set-ups available at many stores at a reasonable enough price. Mine came from Harbor Freight. The panels offered now are 100W and comes with everything you need to get started, except storage battery which your RV probably has/had. Any amount of time you don't have to run that generator is good for the environment. Oh, price on those solar panels is about that of 60 gallons of fuel in Indiana.
I'm expecting my youngest grandchildren to come stay with me for a few days during school break. Also invited my son and his family to hang out on Friday night for pizza and movies/conversation/board games.
By New Year's Day I will be completely peopled out!
Is this wonky internet day? Came here today and found an entirely new and different set-up (with huge emojis dividing individual comments, one column wide) and no way (so far) to go back to the display I had yesterday.
@reibeatall Is it possible that the universe is telling you it's time to move on to new things that will fit more comfortably? For me, seemed like about every 7 years I had to make a turn in my life, because the road directly ahead was under too much construction to sit and wait.
I'm in a really bad spot right now emotionally and the job I'm at is such an awful fit for me. This sucks.
@Averly After all, doesn't the grocery store bakery offer a fabulous white chocolate and macadamia nut cookie for an almost reasonable price?
Gloomy day and sinus headache seem to go together like cake and ice cream, only not as enjoyable.
@kaye Now that you mention it, I don't see the Ghostery image on my toolbar.
@stoof I understand! It took twenty years of hard work and schooling prior to getting a job as an apprentice toolmaker in an automotive foundry. Twenty years after that, working in the trades, building dies for transmissions. Retirement is wonderful, but the mansplaining continues! I recently got a lecture on how to use a fulcrum and cheater pipe to increase leverage ... from someone who has known me for 30 years, and knows what my job was. 😩
