I was lucky enough to have a dry day and a little help to get that tent taken down and put away for the winter season. Still not quite ready for snow, but making strides!
@stillinhere I understand that animals have differing reactions, dependent on whether the catnip is dried (most common) or fresh.
Never fear that you've got a product on the shelf that you can't use, however. Dried catnip makes a relaxing herbal tea for most people.
I've been in a long running legal dispute with someone who "wins", then turns around to have victory snatched from her hands by her own misdeeds, giving what I wanted in the first place.
The most recent win requires her to pay out about $8000 by Friday. Three weeks ago she was asking to borrow that amount (from someone who knows better).
So I was not surprised to find the back window of my car smashed, the interior filled with rain water, and the crystal on the rearview missing.
Win to me?
Why, oh why, didn't I take that tent down two weeks ago while it was dry for two days in a row?
@Siphonay I would offer you some of our cloud cover, but shipping is going to be a problem.
@jannamark I think I found them at a local "we don't advertise on television" grocery store. They hold up well to coffee dunking and have good flavor.
I think potatoes are almost the perfect food, and come from the home state of former VP Dan Quayle. I would find this story interesting even if half of my relatives didn't originate from the British Isles.

@vtbap Hello! {waving from across the way}
@Latkes That is a wonderful addition to what would otherwise be a stressful day.
@jannamark I needed that laugh! Are you turning out Pecan Sandies? (my favorite advertised cookie)
@jalefkowit Perhaps they think you didn't order a second time because of the nasty iceberg lettuce they called salad. After 40 years of not eating salads in restaurants for that reason, I am loving the move to mixed greens.
My grandchildren are spending part of their school break with me. Granddaughter has multiple handicaps and needs medicaid to provide services for many of her needs. Listening to some politicians talk today, you'd almost believe that they really intend to keep that program available across the board.
I was born at night, but it wasn't last night! Americans deserve health care as a right, provided by the taxes we pay. It's time for single payer.
I hate funerals, and plan on skipping my own in about 40 years.
But today is the viewing and celebration of the life of my dear friend's wonderful spouse of more than 30 years. I must force myself out of this chair an into suitable attire for leaving home for a bittersweet afternoon and evening with people I love.
That final door waits for each of us to go through in our own time. Knowing that the journey must be taken doesn't make it any easier for the ones we leave behind.
@Fritillaria2 Are you fasting FROM fruits and vegetables, or from everything BUT fruits and vegetables?
Asking for a friend.😆
I loved the weekend weather in the walnut grove. The air was warm enough for comfort and the sun flirted around the edges of the clouds all day Saturday.
Well, there was the part where 30 mph winds kept a steady rain of nuts falling onto whatever surfaces, sometimes very noisily. That was prior to the sunset thunderstorm that forced cooking inside over a propane fire instead of an open fire of hardwood logs.
Sunday morning had a brand new crop of dead fall to go into the campfire pile.
@wfpman I admit
spending 75% of my time on local timeline.
@realtegan Same here, and I don't even have a cat!
@Liti I'll have to agree with you. I will tell young people (under 30) that I'm old (late 60's), but not nearly as old as I intend to become. Yes, I am retired. No, I haven't stopped trying to make a difference. Perhaps that is where we find the line?
@calyanare It is unfortunate fact of life that some people just don't know how to be nice to beings with two legs that are able to walk on their own.
It's that time of year again, when people let you know that they don't think for themselves by sharing the stupid "Moneybags" post about how specific days turn up five times this month and won't again for 823 years. Don't get caught showing your lack of knowledge on social media!
