Dont let people post things, just watch.
Let people without accounts look at the current activity, find subjects that interest them, and see if people they know are already here.

@mcccclean Exactly. The silly thing is, I think this is technically possible already. You can share links to toots without logging in to see them...
We just need to make it easier to do so for streams.
