I met a new member of staff at work today.
She's in her early Twenties and is registered as legally blind. She is completely blind in one eye, and has something like 10% sight in the other. She has a guide dog which sometimes stays at work with her (in the staff room) and uses a cane - but not at work.
Considering all of the above, she manages to make her way around the store, read product labels - sometimes with the use of a magnifying glass, use the till, and demonstrate the products (body lotions etc.) to the customers.
She has just finished a Masters Degree in Children's Literature, writes articles for various websites, and has a very active YouTube channel.
To say that I was inspired by her would be an understatement.
@starbreaker @dedbees With those types I usually slip into my New England persona, and drawl "Y'all cain't get theyah fum heyah"
You know, doesn't it seem like the disaster in Puerto Rico would be the perfect opportunity for this so-called president to make at least part of America "great again?"
New infrastructure. Efficient, robust, sustainable energy grid, transportation, and communications systems. Etc.
Done right, Puerto Rico could not only recover, but become a model for the world.
And now she texted to tell me she needs me to bring gas money. Oy, this child!
Ok. Been at this for an hour. Head hurts....need sleep. Will return in the a.m. with coffee...... lots of coffee. 😬
@Stonekettle says minions don't follow orders! Weeerrrreeee heerrreee, lol.
@Stonekettle Thanks for directing me here. Now, who can help me figure this out? Elementary teacher here. Only other social media I use is Facebook. I'm thinking this might be a bit different.
