So I ended up staying up late last night to deploy a feature. One which the directors desperately needed by this morning. There are a fair few bugs in my code but that is what they get when they push you to deploy something before itโ€™s ready.

Github is now a fully owned, proprietary tool of Microsoft.

It's time to decide.

Do we as a community allow our future to depend upon commercial interests of a company that to this day spreads FUD and minimizes our impact when it suits their plans?

Or do we step up, do what we do best and take our code to somewhere created by the us for us and the good of the community?

This isn't about hating Microsoft. It's about loving our own sovereignty and controlling our *own* future.

Please Boost.

My partner and her best friend have been spending the day listening to rap and taking โ€œgangster โ€œ Snapchats.

Just came to the realisation that my house has no Ethernet....

Hi. We're Katherine and Jeffrey, and we're writers who, as may be clear from this account, like to do stuff jointly. Most of our books are YA fantasy, although we're involved in other speculative-fiction publishing as well. We're hoping to get the hang of mastodon to have a social media environment we can feel comfortable in, because we're not always good at this. #introduction

@reibeatall Yeah I like a real interface that I can use when I forget a key binding or something.

@reibeatall Atom does look good.

Everyone at my work uses vim but I don't have the guts to use it yet :P

I have been using sublime text for a while now. but I have kinda come to the conclusion that there might be better editors out there. The main reason for this is I have not seem many massive updates for ST for ages... What is everyone else using?

Every day I have to catch a bus to work that is full of students from a military school. Some mornings there are 3 different people playing different songs off their phones, not how I want to start my day.

There is a special place in hell for people who play loud music on the bus at 6 in the morning.

I really want to get into tech writing more.
