I really wish the "click to view image" feature didn't automatically tag things NSFW. It really messes with my emotions.

THIS IS SO IMPORTANT
Forbes wrote ANOTHER article about Mastodon, which uses the word "disrupt" in the headline
and they embedded a video from gargron's youtube channel at the end
and when you watch it
a little picture of Gargron's Fursona pops up in the corner!!!!
ON FORBES
the wonderful witches of witches.town have introduced me to the glyph ꙮ
it is "multiocular O", a variant of Cyrillic O that is used in certain religious texts in a phrase that translates to "many-eyed seraphim" and basically nowhere else
I honestly am having a hard time thinking of a single witchier Unicode character unless the Leviathan cross is hidden somewhere in the codeplanes
Thinking about what the opposite of a followbot would be: an Ambassador Bot!
It would just boost all local toots that earned more than X favs. So follow it to see the best of what a platform has to offer.
I'll code one up this week.
@turumore I don't know anything about Finnish politics, but 📈greens and 📉 nationalists sounds pretty heartening.

@y (A lot of people saying UX is how it makes you feel... That *is* an element of the larger holistic picture of UI, but there are also parts of it that are a lot less fuzzy and subjective than that.)
@y UI means "User Interface". UX means "User eXperience". UI is the actual layout and appearance of all the stuff you interact with on your screen, what the controls actually make the software do, etc. UX includes UI, plus a more holistic understanding that addresses for things like: How will you learn the UI? How will you seek help when something goes wrong? How does your attention flow from one part of the UI to the next?

@msavich Mastodon and GNU Social are two separate implementations of the same protocol, OStatus.
@milo you're like the third Jewish person I've seen remark that they *just* took up baking something or other. Life's funny that way!
that the mastodon federation works so well despite massive queue delays indicates it would also work well even with instances scattered about the solar system. a trial run for a future we have yet to immanentize
The number of queer users on Mastodon/Imzy is a pretty strong indictment of mainstream social networks—as if the issues with those services weren't public enough already.
I don't judge social networks in terms of Twitter-killers, just as I don't see every new Linux distro as a Mac/Windows-killer. If the goal is to provide a valuable alternative that makes a difference to people, success is not an all-or-nothing matter. This is the culmination of every innovation—when it starts sprouting niches.
