Need to understand how Mastodon relates to GNU Social. I can't seem to follow people who use GNU Social sites, or so it seems.
@Ronkjeffries Mastodon and GNU social rely on the same underlying protocol.
You *should* be able to follow a GNU social user just fine.
@profoundlynerdy @Ronkjeffries Your problem may not be technological, but social. A lot of the places your instance blocks are GNUSocial instances, which might give the impression it's a GNUSocial thing. https://github.com/tootcafe/blocked-instances
