Pinned oot

I've been getting a bunch of follows lately, which is amazing considering I'm not super active.

- I'm Evan, a ux design manager in Dallas. I really enjoy , , and am working on getting out of gold in

I've been focusing on my health and have dropped about 60 lbs in the past few years. I've hit a plateau recently which is frustrating. I've added 2x/week spin classes and some weight training as well as a strict tracking of calories

uspol, anxiety, alcohol

I can't stand the way things are, but I know I don't have the reach or influence to fix underlying systemic issues.

Trying to work inside my sphere of influence feels like it isn't impactful, but trying to work outside it is like pushing water uphill.

It leaves me tired and wanting to just opt out of reality to make it through the day.

Is there a way to balance all that without choosing to numb yourself with drugs or indifference? Cause I can't seem to do it...

For some reason I can't get to octodon.social on firefox on my windows machine…

On my mac it is fine...

"Google no longer providing original URL in AMP for image search results"

Time to share this one again before it's too late:

How to fight back against Google AMP markosaric.com/google-amp/

Does anyone have a recommendation for a news reader/aggregator on ?

I can't deal with Apple News showing me headlines for things behind a pay wall. That sort of kills me

Ideally - I'd like something where I could put in rss feeds of sites I care about, and then other related news would be pulled in. Happy to pay for a service, so free isn't a limitation.

alcohol, anxiety

How is it that after I drink I wake up with anxiety from the after-effects of a depressant running through my system...

But when I don't drink I wake up with anxiety because I have a ton more energy and my body doesn't know what to do with it.

Noob question - If I wanted to dual boot between linux and Win10, is there a way to have both systems reference the same files for things like movies, music, photos, etc?

Is it as simple as making a NTFS partition and pointing both OS's to it?

I wonder if there are gender differences in how people address smart devices...

Do men and women initiate commands differently?

Does it change if you change the AI voice to male/female/non-human?

Could we adjust social behavior to have AI reprimand "bad" behavior?

Anyone else looking forward to the all star weekend?

I'm excited to see the panel v. analysts match

This one rang the truest for me, especially since I had random spell of sad last night after finishing spin class. It was a funk that just hung over my head until I went to sleep.

That point above is one of the main reasons I have a hard time anymore engaging on any social media. People are so eager to jump in and tell others why they are wrong instead of being decent people.

It is tiring to see constant bickering over useless shit and adds nothing to anyone's life.

Instead of outrage all the time, I want to see people put positivity in to the world. But we never use social media for that, do we?

Remember: If someone has a point of view different than yours, you are better served to try to put yourself in their shoes than fight what you see as "wrong".

You are rarely going to change anyones mind and arguing just entrenches them further.

Actually understanding someone does nothing for them but helps you grow and have a more diverse view of the world.

Someone once told me that working in for an airline is one of the most difficult jobs to take, because of the vast number of permutations you can have for any given flow.

In brainstorming a small solution I almost had smoke come off of my dry erase marker... And that was just for the happy path.

I'm starting to find more of the old App.net people I would interact with here.

I do wish browsing and following across instances was easier on mobile apps...

Remember when companies were part of some larger corporation?

Pepperidge Farm (a division of Campbell's Soup Company) remembers.

Sleepy: How are you doing?

Creepy: How you doin' 😏😏😏

This is my newest tattoo, fresh after the session ended.. about a week ago.

I'm ready for the healing to finish so it can get back to looking this good. It is in the dry, scabby phase now
