Which is why I've always been and will continue to be ether a Green or independent. I prefer to be member of a party that stands for its principles, or none at all.

Does anyone else play Mafia? Or, more broadly, does anyone have any tips for when people have made good arguments against you and you have trouble coming up with a defense?

I heard my coworkers talking about this yesterday. They all supported this, saying that since the children were put in air conditioning and had video games so that it makes it okay.

So much for "family values." I have to wonder if these people would say the same thing about children taken away by Child Protective Services from parents who have been accused of child abuse. I'll bet in that case they'd support the parents.

They're separate but related. The PowerPC uses a subset of instructions from the POWER architecture. The whole platform was created by an alliance of Apple, IBM, and Motorola, hence the name "AIM alliance."

Personally I'd love to see some PowerPC systems again, even as a niche.

@bstacey The Baby Boomers got us into this mess in the first place with their "Screw the future generations, we want it all for ourselves!" and "I"ve got mine, screw you" mentality.

In the U.S. they gave us Nixon (twice), Reagan (twice) both Bush's (the 2nd one twice), Clinton, and now Trump. And they've done everything they can to increase income inequality and then blame the poor & the young for it.

They deserve this.

Also I wanted to touch on a sub-topic in that article about procrastination: Price touches on a problem that I certainly had and I suspect others have, too: that people aren't taught how to break down a large task such as writing a paper into smaller, more manageable tasks. In academia it's assumed that students know how to do this and so they're never really taught how to do it.

This brought back memories of my parents calling me lazy whenever I didn't get grades they thought were goid enough, which was pretty much all the time starting in fifth grade. Calling me that didn't help, and they hnever looked into why I wasn't doing as well as I had been.

It's ironic that the word "laziness" is often used as a judgement by people who can't be bothered to ask why a person is doing what they're doing.

I probably should have tooted this earlier and I'm doing so on both my accounts: I made it home at 20:20 UTC. I've been home now for over 8 hours.

Just one more example out of hundreds of thousands that the only accurate computer emulation is Xscreensaver's BSOD screensaver.

Regarding change in software: I tend to be sceptical because far too many times I've seen developers embrace change for the sake of change with no regard for how said change affects the users. Examples: systemd, Orbot.

I say if you're going to make major changes then

1. Think about how it will affect users
2. Come up with a plan and stick to it before & while writing code
3. Avoid feature creep by limiting the scope of change
