It doesn't help that Baby Boomers, the main group who buy SUVs, keep doing so thinking that they'll keep buying gas at less than $3/gal.

Then they elect a Republican president and gas prices go up. It's happened every time since George H. W. Bush in 1988. It's been no exception under Trump.

You'd think Ford would have figured this out by now. But this is the company whose vehicles consistently rank near the bottom on Consumer Reports's ratings.
