@bksmgglr weird, I thought they were. I use the feature.

@rory shhhhh...we dare not speak that name

meta-real talk

it will be interesting to see if this service goes inward or explodes in popularity as people find they like its features. it could go either way. the user base is very sensitive and yet there is a lot of potential here if the gets sorted out.

@slightlyoff haha. that does tend to get you in trouble.

@hermeslispegistus I have been around since Usenet and what you say is very true. It will be interesting to see which direction this service goes.

@Mainebot man, I totally agree. I am all for civil debate.

@hermeslispegistus yes. I agree. and...yet...apparently some people are so easily triggered that that attempt to discover common ground may not ever happen

Politics

It is very amusing to me how hyper sensitive people are about politics here. I am growing tired of even thinking about it. Shrug.

@gideonro @bksmgglr but that is lost in the general shuffle. People don't have time to do research or have a nuanced opinion.

@jansegers I thought I did that. I put politics at the top then hit the CW button. I am trying to be as careful as possible about that.

@Vo_oK I doubt that will happen. they'd change something very basic about it -- the distributed nature of it.

@gideonro @bksmgglr on, that, we disagree. it was inevitable that G+ would be compared to Facebook, given that it was Googles attempt to dethrown Facebook. Shrug.

politics

It is amusing how the alt-right is now freaking out that Trump is part of the "deep state." the whole thing is bonkers. You can't put ice cream on poop and not have poop at the bottom.

@bksmgglr @gideonro I think G+ is great, the real names issue killed it and...it was designed by people who did not understand human interactions as well as Facebook. But the premise was strong and it's unfortunate that it did not become a success.

I have done a little v-log using Facebook Live about this service. Please take it in the spirit in which it was done. I feel the CW feature brings with it some interesting issues about the future of public spaces. migugin.com/talk-to-me-interne

@CobaltVelvet @Trav1sty

I was definitely triggered by that statement.

@bksmgglr because reporters are often the first to experience things for the general public and they do one thing and one right well: observe and write. They look for what's wrong with things so they can get an angle from which to present information.

Tech people get mad, and the circle of life is complete.

@Migukin @CobaltVelvet I don't see how that's feasible. At which point do U consider the basic things around U as "too much to handle?" There's nothing wrong with trying to shield your feelings from what's going on around you, but at the same time, it's not practical. Life is going to happen whether you like it or not. Maybe just step back, regroup, and then rejoin? That would be a healthier repose than "I need a safe place" (which you should already have at home.)

@CobaltVelvet @Trav1sty

It's pointless to discuss this. You're obviously too easily "triggered" and anything I say at this point will only make matters worse. Godspeed.
