@ryanvis if you have n clamps on hand, your project will almost certainly need n+m clamps. If by some freak cosmic alignment you have n clamps on hand and the project requires n clamps, then at least 2 of your clamps will turn out to be the wrong sort, thus restoring the universe's clamp balance.
@ryanvis discussing this with friends over beers, we realized you've discovered the clampdrasekar limit. this is when the number of clamps in the shed has reached the point that while any number of projects can enter the shed, they can never leave due to the clamping force - the dreaded clamp hole. Eventually entire woodworkers can vanish across the clamp horizon, typically emitting cries of "oh bugger oh bugger oh bugger my finger oh bugger" before vanishing from this universe entirely.

I yield! That was amazig
@MightyBigCar Also, as you approach the ownership of n+m clamps, projects settle into requiring n+m+1 clamps, a limit no shop can reach.
Should one shop attempt to meet the limit, it collapses on itself and becomes a clamp shop, avoiding the question entirely #woodworkingmaths
