We have bees! A friend installed three pounds of honeybees and a queen yesterday. Mercalli supervised from a safe distance.

@ElectricMink will do. current instructions are to leave them alone for now and let them settle in. we'll check on them in a week.

@MightyBigCar Don't want them thinking their new home is dangerous so they swarm off? (Or is the queen imprisoned at the moment? I understand they often put her in a tube with the end sealed with candy so the worker bees have to chew out the plug to free her, giving them time to adjust to a new queen....)

@ElectricMink it's both and more. new swarm + new queen + new hive + new location. we'll have a few days of cool weather, which will encourage them to make themselves at home, get used to the queen, free her from her candy trap, and generally get settled.
