Anyway, FFXII Zodiac Age: pretty good! There's a lot of polish over the original's systems that make it much more interesting, and I love how nearly every dungeon has some hidden secret to it that uncovers new areas, bosses and abilities. I've also forgotten how big games can be, having spent most of the past half-decade playing either 10-hour AAA rolleycoasters or 2-hour indie darlings. I'm *50* hours in and I think I'm maybe halfway through?

I'm playing FFXII Zodiac Age on my holidays (at home). I'd finally set up Poach, an ability which removes a nearly dead enemy and gives you an item, which was keeping me ahead of the income curve but was slowly falling behind on the XP curve. Turns out, not unrelated: Poached enemies don't give XP.

Weirdly, there's a lot I actually want to get done this year. I have new year resolutions, but not because you're supposed to, but because I ran out of time to do them in 2017

Impressions of 2018 so far: buses are bad and filled with angry people, trains run much more efficiently than in 2017 and I can actually get a seat

I listened to the #hamilton Original Cast Recording. It was pretty good!

It's probably also overrated, I'm not sure why so many people became obsessed with it.

I think I appreciated it more than I enjoyed it? Star Wars kind of leaves me cold, I'm not precious about it at all, and so I enjoyed Rian Johnson burning it all down. I liked a lot of the things that are getting hate - Poe gets half the Rebels killed, we detour to The Real Bad Guys' Planet (war profiteers!), Snoke's a nothing - but it still felt weightless. A piece of cotton candy.

It's dated in a lot of ways and its pacing is weird (we thought it'd work better with extensive flashbacks ala Christmas Carol) but it still works. Interesting how politics has changed since then as well.

Well, it looks like I'm back on my bullshit, "bullshit" here defined as "Guild Wars 2". It looks like they got the content kinks worked out and are actually shipping big chunks of game, which handily avoids the big problem I had with it: after you run out of new content it's deathly boring.

My boss won the how many holes in a straw game: she said 0 holes. A straw is a complete unbroken object. The bits at the end where there is no straw are not part of the straw.

This is why you don't step to my boss.
