Brexit on the wane in the UK. NRA on the wane in the US. Sun shining in the blue sky. Things are looking up!
Ok, a bit more googling makes me think it's a disingenuous insult used by anti-femininsts rather than a term of self identification for bigots. Or do I have the wrong end of the stick?
Does anyone know what TERF means, aside from the simple Google definition?
The German far right won 16% of men's votes today but only 9% of women. Thank goodness for suffrage!
@miramarco Oh, sorry, I reread your toot and understand now, ignore my suggestions!
@miramarco How about chess, draughts or Snakes and Ladders?
Charismatic mega-feature aspect of climate change:

@SteveJohnson You're absolutely right, and that would make @CobaltVelvet our Sysop? Hopefully she doesn't have to sync nightly to other instances to propagate messages to other instances though!
@Sweet_Tango_Chill I think it works both ways. Putting the man-children in an echo-chamber automatically puts us Right Thinking Folk in one too. Then the only impressions we get of each other are second hand and because generally only the most outrageous aspects of any debate get retweeted, boosted or shared, each net-split ends up shouting at a caricature.
OFC I don't want to actually have to engage with deplorables just to know what's going on so maybe I'm advocating quality journalism.
Mastodon seems great for excluding the really unpleasant types who were on Twitter but the danger the other way, of course, is the risk of becoming an echo chamber. Brexit and Trump really shocked me and I would have preferred to have known people thought that way in advance.
What if, say, all the climate change denialists find they like life on one of the generally-blocked instances? Do we all need several accounts? Maybe there's a tech solution, like some clever aggregation to make a digest.
Hello, Octodonners. It looks like Alice's patreon in support of our chosen instance has plateaued. Please do what you can to help our friendly neighborhood cyberpunk queen, @CobaltVelvet
Donating is grand; boosting this, even, will be helpful, to get the message around.
@paronomasiac If you enjoyed that then I heartily recommend you visit The Culture! I'd start with the second book though (Player of Games) as the first one, while good, doesn't really fit with the others. In many ways they're one man's two and a half decade thought experiment in "what will humans get up to post-scarcity?"
@paronomasiac I reckon a society without an economy would be much harder to achieve than a society merely without money, and even that would be super hard. Do you know of any examples?
