Conservative politics are an easy sell in rural areas. But the problem is: they just *CANNOT* deliver.
To stop the decline of the rural America, a level of government intervention would be required that is 100% incompatible with the conservative core ideology.

@sydneyfalk I did not want to address the conservatives themselves. They are beyond my reach. But I want to address those people who elect them because they have a hope they may get help from those. I want to make clear these hopes are in vain. Not because conservative politicians are dishonest (though they may be) but because in order to "help" the rural areas, measures need to be implemented that conservatives never will approve.
> those people who elect them
Those people are who I'm talking about.
I get that to some degree there's a bunch of assholes lying to people who are desperate.
But to some degree those desperate people agree with those assholes about taking a corrective measure that has a punitive component -- a 'solution' that 'fucks someone over', if you will.
I am aware there are conservative people in 'rural areas' who simply don't know better.
But it's not all of them, and never was. :\
(but I do understand that, and approve to trying to tell the unknowing-out-of-desperation and desperately-in-denial sort who WANT better things)
@Masek
Hypocrisy isn't a problem to the mindset of a conservative, though. Telling them logical statements about how they can't get what they want out of the thing they're doing doesn't work, because they don't trust logic.
They trust the reptile brain telling them to eat the weak. :\
