oh I did some more looking and while my TV can stream 4k content from literally every source imaginable, its not DLNA certified because it's built entirely around a chromecast, and they aren't budging on that.

Somehow the only app my tv seems to be missing is the generic multimedia app to access network whatevers and share whozits. Now I'm trying to see if I can force it to make the app happen.

I had to doublecheck my tv for this and apparently it got a software update some time ago that dropped a native plex app on it, that'll stream the 4ks from the computer machines. Up to now we've been using the plex ps4 app, which don't make the 4our thousand pixels work.
