Last night, I overheard my wife state her regret for getting married.

She didn't think I could hear, or didn't realize I was there.

I believe this is probably that moment that everyone who is in a marriage that is beginning to fall apart realizes that it's probably not going to get better, right?

@Shoju I don't think any relationship is just something that has it's own life. It's something people build together, and nurture.

If there's a problem there, it is something that you should both be addressing together, frankly and honestly. If you, collectively, can't address it in a way that seems like there's a solution, find a mediator who can help the both of you understand it and try to decide whether it's something you both want to repair and grow.

I don't think that it's something that she wants to work on anymore. Our marriage has never been "great". We've had problems, faults on both sides. But lately it's just more fault finding, arguing, and undermining.

Don't apologize. This place, with my anonymity intact is the only place I can even utter the words.

@Shoju Before it just gets terrible, at least have a frank and honest conversation about it. Not a fight, not an argument. It's not about blame or ultimatums, but trying to understand the why, the what, and figuring out if there is a future. They might be receptive to it, too.
