it's too bad I have about zero interest in actually _playing_ Overwatch, I've never liked a group of game characters more (at least, as they feature in fanart *giggles*)
@kara_dreamer I'm not normally into FPS games, but Overwatch is super fun... and it's 100% because of the characters.
@MD_BoD yeah, it does look like it _could_ be a blast, but I've had bad experiences with multi-player games that fiercely competitive
@kara_dreamer I've so far steered clear of the "comp mode" in game and just played in Quick Play, or even vs AI. Not a lot of toxicity in those play modes, as more of the "just playing for fun" and "learning a new hero" types are in there.
@kara_dreamer They offer a variety of play modes:
Training - just you and some bots
VS AI - team of players vs team of AI
Quick Play - players vs players, outcome does not affect your "competitive rating"
Competitive - players vs players, outcome affects competitive rating (people can get really salty in here)
Arcade - fun stuff
Every now and then they'll also have story-driven PVE scenarios that are players vs AI.
Lots of options to play without running into toxic types
@kara_dreamer sorry if I come off as hard selling here, I just had the exact same reservations on the game, but decided to give it a shot during the free weekend a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. Also, Blizzard takes reporting seriously if you do happen to run into particularly toxic players.
@MD_BoD Oh, no, I appreciate the information! Yes, perhaps it is a _bit_ of a sell, but I appreciate the amount of information you've given me in a short time.
@kara_dreamer elaborating on Arcade mode, lots of fun game types, like Mystery Heroes, where what hero you play is randomized every time you respawn, or Mayhem where ultimate charging is increased.
