11/ I asked his friend what he did in HK, and he said he traded in sandalwood and agarwood. I must've been a little drunk because instead of asking a less direct question, I told him the only thing I knew about agarwood, which was that it was endangered because of heavy poaching of wild agarwood from the jungles. Did he encounter any of that? Of course, he said to me immediately; it's all illegal.

@xor Once you buy some more photo-whatsit chips there will be more black squares on different timers, and if you wait until they're all in sync you'll get heaps
@xor If you only click when the black square is up (it will show a positive number below) it's a lot faster than waiting for ops, and you can temporarily go over your ops cap if you're quick
@katebowles The identity thing is going to be a problem for any closed platform, and even if Twitter cleans up their act (not that I think they will to any meaningful degree)
@katebowles I've been thinking about this from a technical perspective. It seems to me that Twitter's only advantages are the existing user base, and they control the account/identity system so it's hard to transfer off automatically.
@thewaether Some of us are here in solidarity. I guess we'll just have to see if it achieves anything or not.

So the narrative now is that we're all ditching twitter because solidarity only gets shown for white women and... Like I don't doubt there's racism there but there are so many reasons to ditch twitter, more than just this last week's events, I'm not ditching it for that Rose person, I'm ditching it so people can consider switching to Mastodon because twitter is a bot filled nazi sanctuary
I'm thinking about how difficult it is to change over to Mastodon from another social network.
Does anyone know if Mastodon does/could support outside identity providers instead of having a login on a particular Mastodon instance?
@CobaltVelvet Did you have any success trying to find twitter people again on Mastodon? That's mostly what's holding me back.
@stillinhere Yeah, it's a problem. It would be easier if the identity system was separate from the social media platform, so you could reliably find the same people on a different system.
I'm trying to think of ways to replace twitter, obviously.
@spacerog I'm pretty optimistic that their analytics team know who the real users are, I guess the question is whether they care or not. Will it be visible to the advertisers?
@stillinhere It's pretty quiet around here huh? It's hard when that other site already has the user base.
