Strangely enough, look to the goofy ecchi romcom manga "We Never Learn" as a kind of counterpoint to this: it's a story that objects to the whole "focus on what you're good at; you can't be ______ if you don't have the natural ability," even though like My Hero Academia it believes in having natural aptitudes for certain professions.

As interesting and unique an approach to a superhero setting as My Hero Academia's is, I've been conflicted about how I feel about the society depicted in the story for a while. Heck, the manga and its spinoff question it in different ways as well.
This video does a good job of analyzing some of it, though I'm still not sure if I like that sort of society.
