These is my new year's cast on: socks on 2mm needles and I'm using the Hermione's everyday socks pattern. I like it because it's simple but still gives a nice texture. For these socks I'm only using the pattern on the front half of the sock to see how the pattern is changing the fabric and the colors.

@Leana size 2s. It’s DMC Perle Cotton 5 - which is about the size of embroidery floss and sold next to it on the racks - doubled, to get the gradations. (Two reds held together, then red-and-orange, then 2 oranges, orange-and-yellow, and so on.)
It’s for Barbie! Technically, it’s for a Barbie that will be dressed up as one of my characters!
This is the largest item I've ever blocked. Ended up weaving the wires through it while it was dry, pinning it out, and then throughly spraying it with water.
The pattern is called Addiction, and the yarn is Handmaiden Flyss, which is a 65% silk, 35% linen blend.

It being #yarnuary and all, I figure it's a good time to chat a bit about how #nalbinding connects to my current #amwriting #wip. (And I need the distraction right now, so why the hell not.)
The novel I'm working on is set in an original world that is at about the technology of our own history during the rise of the first cities. Being a fan of all things yarn craft, I decided to make one of the characters a weaver--and then had to back track to research when weaving was invented.

Happy #yarnuary! I'm currently in Section T of my #mastokal2017 project, the Chasing Blizzard shawl. I'm using a solid blue light fingering weight yarn with a tonal light blue-grey.
So this time without cw so that the hash tag #yarnuary works.
These are house shoes with leather soles. The technique is #nålebinding the stitch is Finnish stitch.

I'm hella proud of this so I'm gonna talk a little more about it. The green and black borders are the Atreides colors. The 4 planets represented are Arrakis (top left) Caladan (top right) Salusa Secundus (bottom right) and Giedi Prime (bottom left). I'm still working out the colors for Giedi Prime.
