I finally learned how to knit!! Used my newly obtained powers to make a tiny sweater for my Karkat plush. It looks terrible and I love it :P

The first bit of my sweater that I mended was the elbow. All the stitches were still there, though some of them were almost completely worn out. It’s best to darn holes before they get this bad, but I was still able to use duplicate stitch to reinforce the knitting. Duplicate stitch is often used to embroider color patterns onto knitting, but can be used to reinforce threadbare knitting.

Friend asked my to make 🖕 style baby mittens for their upcoming kiddo.
There aren't easily findable Middle finger colorwork mittens. I'm surprised. Will make them, just, like, wow this should have been a thing already

#yarnuary #knitting Some mending I've done this month. I cut off the bits that were beyond repair, picked up stitches and knit new foot/toe sections... And then ended up doing some duplicate-stitch darning over some sections that looked like they could use reinforcement.

Here we go -- it still needs to have a border crocheted on, but my co-worker is doing that part. My work is done. (Well, six more ends to weave in, and one more pass to steam-block it again)

Good morning! I woke up to a stack of new follower-friends and a few boosts! Hooray for posting fiction on Masto?

Now that I've thawed a bit & groceryed a bit, I can finally post more progress pictures of the Tentacle Bag Mark II!

Both the main compartments (which I've been calling pouches) are done & you can just make out the waste yarns in the outer one; White for the straps & Green for various tentacles.

Took a picture of the top too so you can see how the pouches nest.

Next, I have to make decisions about what color(s) to make the various add-ons!

Today’s buttonholes I tried out for #yarnuary look pretty similar.

I like the waste yarn one better than anything else so far, but the afterthought one could certainly be handy.

I haven’t really compared different knitted buttonholes before, so #yarnuary seemed like a reason to try this out. I found these two on this page from TECHKnitter: http://techknitting.blogspot.com/2012/03/horizontal-buttonholes-including-new.html

I made them different sizes, but oh well. The first one is less fiddly and less symmetrical. It also feels less durable. The Tulips buttonhole is fiddly, but it is tidier.

Tomorrow I'll look for other methods.
