meme culture is modern pop culture, and in many ways, it's become the main art form that leads society above others.

it's actually a pretty intellectual and pinnacle art form, that makes it very simple for anyone to express common socio-poly-econ values very quickly, simple, and with a lot of irony, stire, and really important now adays for art is humour. and being able to make fun of it all, and everything, and some kind of cohesive survival instinct.

Started The Deuce last night and my considered opinion so far is the show would be great if it was only about the women characters.

Watched Song to Song last night and found it a vexing blend of beautiful, tedious and dumb.

people can be more or less skilled at particular types of reasoning or analytical frameworks, they can have more or less knowledge about a topic, and they can be more or less willing to change their mind in the face of new evidence or logical errors. people can have cognitive differences that make those easier or harder.

but people are not more or less intelligent. don't criticize people by appealing to a concept of generalized intelligence, it's just inaccurate (in addition to being ableist)

Hey East Coast, how's 2018??

She often plays a game she calls, "Dyke Bar" because it's one of those cafe games where you make coffee for customers, but all the customers are women, and they often come in pairs, and sometimes they are wearing cowgirl outfits.

Daughter playing a game literally called, "Princess Off Shoulder Dresses"

@thindol and then I realize I do the same: I look at them and see the unaware rich, compared to ME, but of course I am the unaware rich compared to majority...

@thindol I do think part of human nature is comparing ourselves to those with more not less. So when I was chatting with a bunch of silicon valley parents they seemed absurdly unaware of their wealth to me, but they are meanwhile comparing themselves to other parents at their kids private schools who make twice or three times what they do

@thindol Yes. I'm in the low end of that (Union nurse, spouse also bringing in income) and I live in SF Bay. I absolutely am rich when compared to majority. I often focus on what I cant afford: replacing my 18 year old car, buying new windows for my house, but because I've been broker, and also working with poor patients etc, I am aware of the ease of being able to go out to eat or send my kid to expensive camps...

@thindol I mean, I think that's what you're talking about too, but also I have a hard time describing them. Yes they are rich, but that also has such a wide distribution it's hard to say what that means

@thindol so true.

I was thinking of the weird thing also of how genuinely rich people have so much less than the super rich, so they feel they aren't rich
