Hoping to make up for today's meh birthday by not having to dig trenches and find pipes next weekend.

I think what I'm feeling is burnout. The last extended amount of time I took off work was five days for my honeymoon, seven years ago.

Kind of a proud mama moment: six-year-old using swear words in proper context.

Bad news: still haven't found the leak. Good news: we were able to determine it wasn't from the house line, and we now have water back on. We still have no water out to the outside spigots, which means the bathroom in the shop still has no water, (because that's where it was expanded from), but the plumber will be working on a plan to modernize the outside section, and we'll be abandoning the old pipes to their rusty demise underground.

The pitfalls of living in an old place. We've been without water since yesterday; I walked out to find a pool of water in the driveway, and can't find the leak. There's a maze of pipes because this was a dairy for a long time, and the pipes are mostly iron. There's a lot of water under the house, and it's swampy in various locations. I'm doing as much of the digging as I can to find the pipes, so when we do call the plumber it won't cost as much. I'm also wondering if it can be rerouted. FML.

Could someone please tell me the significance of a particular CW? Eye contact, versus no eye contact. I am not familiar with the reasoning behind that.

I really dislike customers that whine about the job after making price their primary focus. Fast, cheap, or good. Pick one.

I'm trying to give away a desk, and nobody wants it.

It was really cool to watch the latest SpaceX launch with my dad just a little bit ago.

Laughing my ass off at the scam letter that just arrived for my late boss. He's been gone since 2012, and this letter claims there's a guy with the same last name who left $9.2 million with no heirs. The letter is trying to set up a fraud where the letter writer and my late boss would split the money. It's so heavy-handed it's ridiculous.

I feel like I've been here long enough I should have been able to figure this out already, and it feels like a dumb thing, but I am not terribly tech savvy and can't figure out how to find someone on mastodon.social.

@jannamark I got a postcard in the mail from the Post Office saying that they're hiring in NorCal, including Mendocino County. I don't know if that would work for your husband or not. Has he had any luck elsewhere?

That head bumping thing cats do when you hold your hand out to them.

Boost if you agree.
