Damn ... I don't know why, but I've reading up on moving the google authentificator to an other phone ... Now I'm anxious about loosing or bricking mine :no_mouth: ... My most important accounts are protected by SMS-2FA but the others ?! ...
Any tipps on backing those up? :thinking:
Thanks for the hint! :thumbsup:
One could create a small encrypted true-/veracypt-container with the strings&QR-codes and push it to a SMS-2FA-protected cloud-drive-thingy ... still some risks, but I think this would be a feasible backup option ...
@Klaus_AusderKasse Indeed, agreed.
@Klaus_AusderKasse You can use the Authy app instead which syncs to cloud and multiple devices, if you're comfortable with the associated security risk.
The most security conscious advise to print out your QR codes so you can keep them safe offline, and then you can register them on google authenticator on new devices, multiple different devices (including sharing with your partner etc).
In any case, if you didn't save the QR code previously, you'll have to reregister 2FA again.
