Don't know if this will help, but I got the elephant "Sorry" page as well until I turned off my ad blocker. I use uBlock. After disabling ad blocker 2 factor authentication signup process worked for me. YMMV. Don't know if that is the case with you, but thought I would mention it.
I've been gone all weekend, and when I come back there are pictures on Octodon!!!

@vilbi Thanks Wolfgang. I have lived in the US all my 57 years with the exception of a few years of travel abroad, and have never been so concerned about my country, or my fellow citizens as I am now. Trump and his administration are dangerous to the United States and the rest of the world.
I'm too old to be scared, and if I let myself worry I'll just suffer twice. But I'm angry and feel powerless. It looks like for now, democracy doesn't exist here anymore.

Just heard on NPR that Trump and DeVos may end Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. A program that I have personally been in for over 5 years, and that was enacted by the G.W. Bush administration. It is infuriates me that this administration can potentially break a promise and pull the rug out from under ≈ half a million public service workers with the stroke of a pen. After we get our degrees, we choose public service knowing our pay will be lower than private sector. Now what?

Anyone else having page load issues on octodon.social today? No avatars are loading for me (see screen shot). I am seeing updates to timelines, etc., but page won't completely load. Firefox on Windows. Ad blocker off.

@dennix I found out several years ago that it is VERY counterproductive for me to have a TV in the house. People sometimes say "Oh, no TV? You must really hate it", and I tell them, no, there is no TV because I love it too much! Re: Facebook, I have never had a Facebook account because I won't willingly volunteer to be someone's product. Big data already gets a big enough piece of me without my consent!

@dennix Radio when I commute (except on my motorcycle), usually tuned to National Public Radio. RSS aggregator (Feedly) which I try to keep neutral and varied so that I see a broad spectrum of progressive and conservative sources. Local newspapers. Web pages for traditional outlets like like BBC, Deutsche Welle, and many others, & etc. Also watchingamerica.com to see what the rest of the world might be thinking about the US. No TV. No Facebook. More that I am not thinking of I'm sure.
