Goodbye Fedora, hello (again) Arch...

ยท Web ยท 0 ยท 1

@Kdvr One day I'll try Arch. Currently on Korora. I tried Fedora before and I did like it.

What made you change to Arch?

@tiphra After a dnf upgrade Xorg got mangled. I couldn't rollback due to packages missing. Then when I decided to reinstall, Fedora's servers had a major disruption making guides etc unavailable. (still is btw)

So, since all that happened I really wanted to go back for the rolling release (my last upgrade from 24 to 25 didn't go as expected too)

In short, couple of hiccups made me go back to Arch. Knowing full well it will happen in Arch too.. :/

@Kdvr Korora is working very well on my system. It crashed once or two since I installed it around February. No major problems yet.

I'm still curious about other distros, specially Arch. I'm a by nature. Can't help myself. ๐Ÿ˜„

@tiphra it does look like a nice distro. I am also a distrohopper but usually just inside Virtual box I make it a habit of installing a new one every week or so. I don't know what's wrong with me.

@Kdvr ๐Ÿ˜„ There are so many of them and they are all so appealing. I'm much more calm now, but I used to do the same in virtual box.

Well, I was always curious with alternative operating systems. Back in the 90s, I got a copy of BeOS from a friend and got delighted. It was way before I could try a Linux distro. Linux was somehow hard to find here. And those distros from magazines never worked. But I always felt curious about it. ๐Ÿ™‚

@tiphra ooh I loved BeOs such a shame it never took off.

@Kdvr Yeah, It had potential. Some companies tried to revive it with new projects. I tried Haiku in virtual box, but there was almost no software for it. So I was limited to the software that came pre-installed. Pity. :/
