On kingsday here in the Netherlands, it is custom to eat a tompuche. since this is a tradition, it is also a tradition that most suppliers make to little of them.
Yesterday I would've liked to treat my colleagues with one of them as it was my last workday before moving on.
My wife was collecting the last few remaining while I see a woman literarily run towards us almost dive inside the cooler and grab the last one. No idea what possesed her. We left the others and bought something else.
@Kdvr I googled tompuche (tompouce?) and it seems a lot like what's called a custard slice here in the UK - I love them!! So sweet and delicious, but so difficult to eat nicely. I haven't managed to find a successful strategy for eating one without a huge mess haha! Plus, here they have white icing with a wavy black pattern instead of plain pink icing

How to eat is the great debate over here with even YouTube tutorials https://youtu.be/Fm4AVgPL8jk too bad it is only in Dutch and this is obviously ment as a "joke". Although when you eat one in the company of savages this can become quite serious. it's said many have perished over the years.
