On kingsday here in the Netherlands, it is custom to eat a tompuche. since this is a tradition, it is also a tradition that most suppliers make to little of them.
Yesterday I would've liked to treat my colleagues with one of them as it was my last workday before moving on.
My wife was collecting the last few remaining while I see a woman literarily run towards us almost dive inside the cooler and grab the last one. No idea what possesed her. We left the others and bought something else.

Although when you eat one in the company of savages this can become quite serious. it's said many have perished over the years.
@Kdvr lol, I had no idea what they were saying but it was pretty funny! Definitely going to try that final "techniek" next time I have one!!
@Kdvr I googled tompuche (tompouce?) and it seems a lot like what's called a custard slice here in the UK - I love them!! So sweet and delicious, but so difficult to eat nicely. I haven't managed to find a successful strategy for eating one without a huge mess haha! Plus, here they have white icing with a wavy black pattern instead of plain pink icing
