The filling and the top crust are down in the bottom, the lower crust is stretched all the way up to the top and is burned
The crust is maybe 1/16 of an inch thick, there was no explanation for this
"I used half the sugar, but it came out fine!" she says about this sour, watery pie
Just FYI, if you are a woman who likes to cook, older women will constantly, constantly say "oh, your mother taught you well!" and there's no way to give the necessary context to explain that you didn't know homemade food could taste good until you learned to cook for yourself
@Louisa I laugh and say, my mom couldn't even cook toast, she always burned it.
@KARiley40 she's one of those weirdos on every recipe blog who says "there's too much sugar in this recipe, I used apple sauce instead!" I've told her about pan searing things a million times and she's still never browned anything
@Louisa no no no. It’s things like this why I took over cooking Thanksgiving for the family.
They either can’t seem to manage it and buy the premade stuff (which has its place, but don’t tell me you are going to cook it when in reality you are going to buy it).
Or. They do things to it like your mom does. Completely missing the point.
Maybe she has no taste buds? Or doesn’t have time?
@KARiley40 I think no taste buds might be it, she's fine with eating bland watery vegetables and I don't know why
