@JanCVanB That Mastodon works like email---is a protocol, can set up servers, have multiple accounts, the servers can communicate with each other or not
@JanCVanB So you have an account on a specific instance (domain/server) but can talk to any other instance that doesn't have you blacklisted.
@annakoop ah, makes sense to me! Can you move to another server and keep account history?
@annakoop That's kind of a shame, maybe an important part of the distributed system
@JanCVanB Agree. Should be a way to make that exportable, I would think.
@JanCVanB Sounds like you can import toot history but not necessarily followers (so address book is tied to instance?)
