Addams Family (1991)

I can't tell if I just want to *be* Raul Julia's Gomez Addams, or if I have a weird crush on him

holy shit, was talking about my Gomez Addams bromance with my wife and she nailed it: Gomez Addams is a perfect example of non-toxic masculinity; he's confident but he's also supportive and encouraging, he's a suuuuper loving partner, he's openly emotional, and he's just all-around game with that certain joie-de-vivre

Addams Family (1991)

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon Still, I like Astin's zanier approach.

Addams Family (1991)

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon fairly similar in the show IIRC. Good stuff.

Addams Family (1991)

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon and when I say Gomez Addams is my role model, people think it's for swordplay and explosives.

It's not JUST swordplay and explosives...

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon
My favorite Gomez Addams quote:

"They says man who represents himself has a fool for a client. Well, with God as my witness, I am that fool!"

Using that line in an actual court of law is definitely on my bucket list.

Addams Family (1991)

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon God-tier non-toxic masculinity. Rick from the '99 Mummy movie is near that level, too. Role models, in that respect.

Addams Family (1991)

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon @kiki_d ahhh Gomez and Tish are just so *wholesome* and it gives me life and Danny Ortberg has already said everything about them that I wanted to say:

re: Addams Family (1991)

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon I think that's why I liked the show more than the Munsters, where the father was much closer to a costumed version of the contemporaneous sitcom stereotype.

Addams Family (1991)

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon Mortocia and Gomez are my ideal of a perfect partnership. Each support the other while allowing them to pursue what they enjoy as individuals.

Addams Family (1991)

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon he's who I wish I was

Addams Family (1991)

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon Funny, I just saw someone make almost the same argument a few days ago on Reddit:

Now I aspire to be like the Addams.

Addams Family (1991)

@JordiGH @ItsTheManOnTheMoon The Addams know how to live true to their heart, compared to everybody else in the movies who are living according to the rules of society and are feeling squeezed, controlled or sad because of it.

I was surprised to have this secondary level of reading when I watched the movies recently. It's very nice.
