It's fascinating reading all the online articles and reactions to the marketing of the upcoming "Twin Peaks" revival. It seems like a really high-profile project to me.

That probably means we'll be in for some interesting reading if the actual show turns out to be as confounding as I expect it to.

My kid must've been hoping that I'd never heard of My Chemical Romance, because when she told me a friend from school had recommended them, and I responded with "OH!!!! I'm reading a comic book by that guy!" she looked really crestfallen.

Ok, so having seen the first episode of "American Gods", I can say they haven't immediately fucked it up. It's been interesting reading the press about the show, though, because people are describing it as EXTREMELY WEIRD and I only thought it was a little bit weird. I think my reading habits have skewed my perspective.

Couple of days to go, yet, but if they fuck up "American Gods" I'm gonna set my car on fire.

Disney: let's make a deeply-researched movie about Polynesian culture that's written, acted, and largely animated by non-whites

Dreamworks: what if infant raises eyebrow

Anybody on here own a copy of Gloomhaven?

My daughter has a school friend who's parent periodically just asks us to take the kid for several days. This is not someone we know directly...we're acquainted with her only via our children's friendship. We agreed to it once, but never since then. We're on the fourth repetition of this now, and I'm running out of polite ways to say "no".

Our dba has been out of the office on vacation this week. At some point a couple years back, (based on I don't what) our management concluded that my skills make me a logical candidate to serve as her backup. I can't emphasize enough how deeply misguided that line of reasoning is. I'm glad the week is coming to an end, and that I managed not to burn the whole organization to the ground.

Everyone in our home has had the same cold/virus/mutant hell disease over the past month. It lasts about three weeks, and the last phase is marked by 1) the coughing and congestion going away, but also 2) constant, unrelenting eye watering. What the hell, nature?

church in the US just sounds like a tax-exempt political party

This is not unlike this other recurring thing I run into. where I occasionally get interested in watching more Westerns, tv shows or movies, but I can't fucking stand John Wayne.

You know, in theory I'd be interested in reading more books on history, but when I browse that section of the bookstore it seems to be massively overrun with military history, probably in an attempt to appeal to old guys. And as an old guy myself, I don't want to encourage that kind of pandering.

Which is as separate issue from the fact that I'm not interested in war. Or at least not any more interested in it that the other parts of history.

Thunderstorms going on here, expected to continue throughout the day. Why is staying home and drinking coffee and looking out the window all day not an option?

I've sort of stopped checking kickstarter, but for a while there I was backing things left and right. And what with some projects being extremely late, and some getting delivered early, this year is suddenly turning into a bonanza. I keep getting cool stuff in the mail!

Nice comic about gender norms and how violently society enforce them thenib.com/if-it-looks-like-a-

Can I get a do-over on this weekend? I over-scheduled and inadvertently caused the time to go by too quickly. If the world allows me a second attempt, I promise to be totally nonproductive. (Also, if this works, I'm gonna see if it will work for getting an election do-over).

Went to see the new "Fast and the Furious" movie this afternoon. If anyone was worried they'd break the precedent by making this one less than completely ridiculous, put your mind at rest.

Earlier I was complaining about having too much RPG material stockpiled...too much to actually read. And then today the mail dropped off my copy of the new "Paranoia". :persevere:
