Widespread network issues in my office today. I try to explain problem to colleagues but they have no idea where their data was stored and never backed it up. In desperation, they call the overwhelmed IT help desk.

It's one of those days when people who don't understand how networks work frantically call the IT help desk because a mapped drive is not showing up in their folder list.

So today I got my first book contract, and a gift certificate from a tea company to review their products. I'm in business (no I'm not). I do review books people send me, though. Usually. The book contract is pathetic. No money in that.

I got 4 notices of requests to reset password on FB today. I did no such thing. I hate that place but it still generates traffic to my blogs. Then I was told is a mac bug. It's all just chaos.

I saved this flower from sunburn after my kid tried to keep it in the snake tank. I have the perfect indirect light on my window at work. Gorgeous color. Pretty, innit?

I forgot a belt today. Oh, and the US delivered missile strikes on Syria. It's a shit day but, Friday. 🤦🏻‍♀️😱

Podcast recording soon. My friends - one from the next town @Nigel and one from Norway - discuss some weird news events from the past two weeks. We're on episode 14 tonight and just finding the groove. Look up "15 Credibility Street" on your podcast app of choice.

@Areya Expect other instances such as pteranodon, solenodon, iguanodon, megalodon... odon is Greek for tooth

It's on the bird site. Might as well bring it over here. Here's my piece on fairy stones from my site Spooky Geology spookygeology.com/fairy-stones

That last toot was part of a reply I wrote to someone who asked me about the validity of the "washing chicken" concerns over "splashing". Folks, there are far more likely things to make you sick or kill you than that.

My husband insists I put away all the nearby dishes before dumping a change of fishtank water into the sink because of "splashing". I'm pretty sure I can survive a droplet of fish water. I mean, they are fine with it! I'm pretty sure I can even eat the damn fish and be ok. He was a bit mortified by that idea. I don't think it was a good way to try to make my point. The "splash" danger has also been applied to washing meat and aerosols of poop from flushing the toilet. It's all bogus.

literally means "breast tooth". I stole that from a geek friend on the bird site, but he's right.

Good evening. Dog is sleeping on a giant stuffed bear. Bunny is lounging. I have a brandy. All is well. octodon.social/media/iKGW6t8xl

I'm the person who does the serious critique about the latest claim. Why? Because people really believe this stuff without good reason. That's generally bad for society.

I've been asked by a tea retailer to review their products. They found me on the bird site. I'm someone there, apparently. But, hey, FREE TEA!!!

"cow vigilantes’ attack cattle transporters in India" Not clicking!!!!

Shatner is winning DB of the day award. Also dissed Dr. David Gorski of Science Based Medicine. Sad to see people go all stupid.
