Somebody calls me, says they're my bank, and they'd like to discuss something. "Sure!" "
But before we continue, we need to ask you a security question to confirm your identity."
Um, no. You called me! You're a potentially random person asking me for the answer to a security question -- which is the first thing a bank would tell someone if they pretended to be me!
They were like "ohhhhhh good point. Um, maybe call our support number?"
Sure!
@Guide42XYZ I think a lot of orgs aren't necessarily aware either that F# exists, or that its ecosystem is as mature as it is. I think we devs should raise awareness so we can raise the adoption rate to make displacement happen. :)
TightVNC on a LAN with Remmina configured the right way was good enough to make me think I wasn't on the native computer.
Which makes me wonder if this could be useful for a really good practical joke.

@Guide42XYZ seriously though, haven't seen what versions are targetted. Some were for NT, server 2003, maybe newer. Anything post XP is likely alright. Still a good idea to stay up-to-date.
(these were NSA exploits that got leaked, apparently – probably older.)
DECLINE AND FALL OF THE ADSENSE EMPIRE
Question: Is the general decline of the news media on the Internet a symptom of on-line advertising's "cheapness" where it requires millions of page-views to earn any significant revenue from Google AdSense?
After all, if you have to hook people into your site with triggers and outrage measured precisely with A|B testing to get them to come, the quality of your content _must_ decline.
Disclaimer: I make money from AdSense.
It's just hours in the day, for me. Quiet time to listen to things is a precious resource for me, and music is important enough that it monopolizes that scarce time 99% of it. I do want to get back to Hardcore History, though. I used to just devour those when I could afford the time @Guide42XYZ
Printing a document has never been so frustrating...we use a service called PrintMe at my school and it's having problems so I can't print anything...looking forward to #IoT where I can't get in my house or use my oven because of a network outage -_-
The Expanse is the best thing on TV. I actually had an emotional response during this week's episode.
mastodon + spacemacs and a may never leave emacs again.
I guess, in the (relatively near) future software and hardware, and maybe even mechanical designs, may be normally described mostly in the same language(s) (say, a dependently typed one(s)). And those descriptions may be in fact just a formalized mathematical theorems.
Currently, #Coq may generate programs in several popular programming languages, and I'm wondering are there any plans/efforts to generate #Verilog or #VHDL descriptions the same way?
