I miss the days when everybody had a blog. They were quirky, highly personalized, and non-commercial,. Then FB and Twitter came along and so many conversations went there, instead, and so many lovely blogs shut down.
I hope Mastodon will help us move conversations from commercial social media back into a free, non-commercial space.

Every day I drive past a sign that says "DO NOT PASS BICYCLES NEXT 1000ft."
I've never seen a motorist besides myself obey that rule, and I've seen many motorists disregard it.
Spending 1000ft behind cyclist will not make anybody late for work, but apparently it's completely absurd to expect a driver to invert that natural order of the universe and fall in behind a cyclist.

You can add a caption, or alt-text, to images you toot!
These captions make your toots more accessible, by giving people who can't see the image a description of what's in the image.
Just hover over the image over you attach it and type a description in the spot that says "Describe for the visually impaired" before you hit the TOOT! button.
Please also encourage Mastodon app authors to add caption functionality. And please boost. Thanks!
