I'm picking Morello cherries in earnest for freezing. They're not dark as they should be, but I'm taking no chances. The birds left me a tree-load, but their word is less that convincing.

The plums on one branch of my 3-way are ripening. No sign of the cherry plums on the "Hollywood"

My lawn is too big, but mowing is the extent of the gardening I can do this year. I keep one small patch in the shade watered for the lying down I'm not doing.

Organic hay bale beds planned. Soon.

@Mainebot I guess most of us (on the wet side at least) like to think we're more Canadian in spirit than American.

My area is an exception to that, but toned down a bit by the political reality of the greater region.

@webmind Hm. I think you’ve misunderstood at least half of what I’ve said.

@artsyhonker @webmind It’s become personal, having been the person ostracized for being too weird, or the “wrong” weird. I’ve lost friends because of it; others keep their distance.

It makes me bitter, when others celebrate weirdness as a choice and an expression or a marker of a larger group identity, and I’m given no choice but to be isolated and imprisoned behind the label.

The statement “I’d rather be weird than...” is made in ignorance of that.

My only indictment was the trend of seeing weirdness only in terms of an identification against the norm, and not understanding that there is a darker, more isolating “weirdness” that becomes, not a choice but a sentence, served by an individual who can’t even fit themselves into a group that celebrates “weirdness”.

Meaning, I’m also getting no sleep tonight.

Our town allows us to set off our own fireworks. Lots of fireworks. My back fence is the reservation boundary. Lots of *very loud*, otherwise illegal fireworks. July 4th is *very loud* here.

I’ve noticed that the number of fireworks set off before the Fourth is directly proportional to the economic climate for the year. By the sound of all the *very loud* fireworks, it’s been a very, very good year.

I’m also not going to get sleep for the next two days.

@Mainebot Some times late coffee affects my sleep less than morning coffee. No idea why.

After four years of the same home practice routine*, I finally discovered a hip adjustment in Warrior II that opens the pose up for me. Four years to access this move! Just on one side! One day, I suddenly get it, for no reason I can think of. #Yoga is definitely a life practice. Four years!

*Plus very sporadic studio practice since 1998.

@Mainebot I usually realize mistake after I've tossed and turned for two hours, wondered why, then remembered, "Oooooh, right." Oops.

@webmind And thank heaven for it, too, but recently I've seen "weirdness" being romanticized, and it's making me uncomfortable. It's like Weirdness Lite, and the world would be boring without it, but it ignores the consequences of what's truly weird: isolation, even from the people radically different. It's hitting too close to home, I guess.

The new trend is being "weird", as in unique, different from the norm, ha ha, strangers look shake their heads in disapproval, lol, so fun to be different! 😂

Well, then there's weird. Friends back away, ghosting you, abandoning you. People you know--coworkers and fellow students-- are polite but keep their distance. No one invites you anywhere, even the people you really like. You try so hard, but you're ostracized and alone and it isn't funny or ha ha or lol. You are weird.

My daughter made this comment in 2011, when she was 4:

Georgia: "Mama, what does 'Georgia' mean?"
Me: "It means 'farmer'."
"Oh. I thought it was 'lobster'."
