Remembering the days long, long ago when we had to open a bandaid wrapper by pulling a red string. Time and again, it failed, but we had to make it work, which it did on occasion. Life was hard in those days. You kids need to appreciate how easy you have it.
another whiney rant about IPAs Show more
On one hand,
When shit happens to me that forces me to painfully re-examine myself and how I might be right or wrong, I think, “This is good for me,” and then I let more and more shit bury me ever deeper. “This is good for me.”
On the other hand,
When I am rock bottom in my deepest depths of hopelessness, and I think, “This is good for me,” it’s a lifeline. I’ve only recently begun to appreciate how true this has been for me.
It’s a thought akin to another... but another time, not now.
Accusing someone of needing to get the last word in is getting the last word in.
@compostablespork define “work stuff”
@donblanco And I’ve never seen that show, so your reference is lost on me, for all your efforts to correct 😊. If I see it, I’ll keep that in mind.
My instructor took my key to the tool shack and gave it to some boorish guy who might need it more than I. <pout> <whine> <grump>
I've been unmoted.
@jules "Kids these days!" ❤️
Morning acts of tiny rebellion:
picked and ate handfuls of mulberries and serviceberries on the verge of falling off and littering the sidewalks
rode my bike to work (4th time this week!)
watched a spotted fawn suckle its mother (as I pedaled up the hill past it)
decided to endeavor to not be a jerk in some moment where I might feel entitled to be a jerk
hoped I have raised a fierce and gritty child
thought about strawberries
@compostablespork "thought about strawberries" ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@gilscottfitzgerald Aw, shucks. Thank you. 😊 (It’s nice to know that the time I spend here can ever be considered “making the world better”.)
@eris This inspired a little Coil binge, thank you very much. 😊
I lived in Las Vegas as a teenager, and music that most people associate with darkness and autumn, I associate with the blistering heat. In the desert, summer is the season that chases us inside. It's the time of year we emerge in the cool nighttime rather than day. Current 93, Coil, Dead Can Dance, all sound better to me in the heat.
happy solstice!

@ultimape @enkiv2 This is been a subject of study for me because of a friend.
In the process, I recognized myself in descriptions of derealization: that I am the only thing in the world that seems real. In periods of mental crisis, I started to feel this as a subtle shift in my experience of space-time, like I was out of phase. It seems to get worse with anxiety and my compulsive introspection. It's no longer pervasive, thankfully.
I've had way too much to drink, and I smoked my one half-bowl of pot for the year, so, preemptively, I know! It makes no sense whatsoever. But I am laughing my ASS off, so be nice.
@Mainebot Whoooooaaa... Aqualuuu...u..u..u..u..ung

I didn't think I needed a Socrates chia pet in my life. I was wrong.
