My instructor has turned blue in the face telling me it’s impossible, but I used the phrase “THAT DARWIN THING” in a conversation with a PhD, and they knew *exactly* what I meant. 😤
@mcmoots The exact context was that only the fungal partner in the lichen symbiosis reproduces sexually, and so it and not the algal partner is subject to the pressures of “that Darwin thing.” 😊
@Fritillaria2 I'm amusing myself trying to come up with other things that could mean (I cited Darwin in my masters thesis because he observed a volcano eruption the day after an earthquake) but they're all pretty clear from context.
