Seriously - you don't have to make your toots fully public, you can restrict distribution.
@RexfordGTugwell I'm bitching about Facebook. I could block and/or narrow post distribution there, as well, although I have a public account and these people are all technically "friends." Also, it's rarely couched in the kind of sexual aggression that women friends of mine face, so it's a small thing.
