@cwylo I will have you know that machine learning is all kinds of neat
Yeah it does get hyped up to be the "this can solve everything" tool. What pitfalls btw?
@Fanatical general reluctance to accept that garbage in = garbage out/that NLP/AI/machine learning or w/e will solve EVERY PROBLEM YOU THROW AT IT
@cwylo I think most of that is honestly just growing pains. It's new tech that people are trying to understand. I know I have gotten caught up in all the hype and am guilty of all those things in the past
@cwylo @Fanatical Not to mention the use of AI as a concept to blackbox methodology and allow for bad actors to do immense damage quickly.
Also increased and unforeseen dependencies with massive and unprecedented consequences.
Also the further concentration of capital as knowledge workers are displaced and only those who control the machines, the weapons, and the algos have power.
Automation is rad, but humans using it need to be much more thoughtful than currently
@b_cavello @cwylo this discussion might have gone out of hand from where it began, but basically yes to everything you said.
@cwylo @b_cavello AI that can be used that way is quite a way off though
@Fanatical @cwylo AI is already being used that way.
@Fanatical but it alone cannot solve all problems, and has many many potential pitfalls that need to be kept in mind as we move forward with it
